~Joan “Prong-horn” Davyson

This collaborative week project (set by Flora Fricker) centred around design for tv and film, and graphic props. The character was devloped on day one as a combination of a suffragette, female pirates and our mothers.
An elaborate back story was required to create a full idea of who Joan is...

“ A runaway from South England who wanted freedom from her traditional opressive life. Daughter of Admiral George Davyson and born in 1727 she comendeered her father’s ship ‘The Mothership’ in the middle of the night and now pirates up and down the Californian coast with an impressive reputation throughout the Pacific.”

To the left are outlines of the 5 graphic props made that week.

(Collaborators include: Isobel Wergan, and an illustation by Imy Rowlinson)
